Evcon 407c Air Conditioners in Sacramento and Rancho Cordova, CA

Need a Cost-Effective R-22 Retrofit?

Not everyone is ready to fork over $12k for a new HVAC system. If your old R-22 freon air conditioner has a significant repair that’s needed, like a failed compressor, you could be facing a $2500 repair (or more). A lot of people have been opting for these 407c condensers. The label on them is “Evcon” or “Guardian.”  Regardless they are both the same. They just have a different name tag on them.  Actually, these Evcon 407c Air Conditioner units are constructed under their parent company, Johnson Controls.  Johnson Controls has been in the HVAC industry since 1883. So they’re an easy company to trust.

Are the parts inside the system any good?

They come with solid brand-name components for the compressor, contactor, capacitor, and condenser fan motor that spins the blade on the top of the AC unit.  I would install these brands in my own home, so I’m comfortable installing them in yours.

Do they have a warranty?

They come with a 5-year parts warranty too!  Try repairing your old AC with a new compressor and getting any warranty on it, let alone the potential for other parts to break on the old AC.

How are they cost-effective?

For a fraction of the cost of a new air conditioning system, you can keep your existing system running for a few more years by getting a 407c condenser from Johnson Controls.

Will this make my entire HVAC system last longer?

I tell people, buying a 407c air conditioner as a replacement for an R-22 unit is like putting a band-aid on the entire system.  You get a great warranty and peace of mind knowing your new outdoor  AC will function properly.  You won’t make the other parts of your HVAC system, like the evaporator coil and furnace, work any better or last longer by purchasing a 407c condenser.

How long will 407c condensers be available?

R-22 systems were installed up until 2010.  Most systems last 15 to 20 years, which means until 2030, homeowners may want this as an option to give themselves that “few more years” they’re looking for.

I honestly couldn’t tell you how many years these units will be available. The company we buy them from says Johnson Controls said 2021 would be the last year. But since so many people are buying them, it made sense for them to continue production for a bit longer.
